Nursery FAQ

Below are answers to some of the questions you may have.

Nursery Hours: The nursery is open from 7.30am until 6pm on Monday's through to Friday's, 51 weeks a year.  We are closed bank holidays and for Easter Weekend and Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.

Key person: Each child at The Secret Garden Nursery is allocated both a primary and a secondary Key person. This is a requirement of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework that ensures each child is taken care of by someone who has an in-depth knowledge of their needs, likes and dislikes. Your child’s key person is someone with whom they can forge a bond that will help them to feel confident, secure and settled whilst at the nursery.

Meals & snacks: We believe that healthy, interesting, nutritious meals are of fundamental importance. All of our food is freshly prepared and cooked in our own kitchens on a daily basis. Meals/snacks can include breakfast, morning snack, lunch, tea, afternoon snack and dinner, depending on the package you have booked. Our menus are nutritionally balanced and are based on a 4 week rotational menu. Special dietary requirements are catered for depending on your child's needs. There is no extra charge for this it is included in the daily fees

Drinks: Children may have breast milk, formula milk, fresh organic milk or water to drink. We serve bottles of milk according to the timetable you dictate and we adapt this on a regular basis as your child develops. If you are breastfeeding, there is no need to give up if you don’t want to. We can give your child your fresh or frozen breast milk, supplied by you. Mobile children have access to drinking water at all times.

Nappies: Nappies are changed at least 3 times a day: in the morning, after lunch, before going home and whenever your child requires a nappy change outside of these times.

Individual care:  The Secret Garden will try to emulate what is happening at home. If you are potty training your child, cutting out their afternoon nap, or removing their dummy for part of the day, we will work alongside you to encourage your child to do likewise at nursery.

Policies & Procedures: We have an extensive range of policies and procedures for your childs safety and for your piece of mind.  Please do ask to inspect them at any time
